Shallow Graves for Shallow Names (2003)

In the Fall of 2002, the San Francisco Art Institute asked to merge with the California College of Arts and Crafts in an attempt to alleviate SFAI financial trouble.

As changing the name of CCAC was already the topic of the Semester, and merging the schools would innevitably result in a new title, I reacted by digging graves for the institutions' current titles in the CCAC gardens one afternoon in the pouring rain.

The graves were filled in a week later, after CCAC lawyers determined that a merger would not be possible, academically.

Regardless, CCAC changed it's name to The California College of the Arts in 2003.
