A Memory A Ma Marie (2003)

My first performance piece, this was an homage to my poor long term memory.

I would sit in front of and beneath the red box, playing an original composition on accordion with all the lights out. At the end of the musical piece I would switch on the gallows light, swinging, which would light up a "secret" diarama inside the box. I would then arpeggiate A-minor, descending through the five octave range of the accordion, and at the second to last octave I would pull a string to slam the lid of the box shut, repeat the musical composition of the first section for good measure - thereafter padlocking the box. In all, the audience got to see about twenty seconds of the contents of the box.

This piece has been destroyed. I have plans to make a second "a memory a ma marie" that is easier to transport, but it's not a priority.
